Care Products – Up to €42 Monthly

Consumable care products are items needed for home care that must be replaced regularly. The care insurance covers costs up to €42 per month according to § 40 SGB XI.

These include:

• Disposable gloves – for protection during personal care
• Hand disinfectant – e.g. Sterillium, Sagrotan
• Surface disinfectant – e.g. Bacillol, Sagrotan
• Bed protection pads – absorbent disposable pads
• Face masks – medical protective masks
• Protective aprons – disposable aprons for care

All persons with a recognized care level 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 who are cared for at home or in a shared living arrangement are entitled to care products.

Care must be provided by family members, friends or an outpatient care service. Persons in inpatient care facilities are not entitled as the facility is responsible for provision.
